In Gaza – Falasteen, there are two famous food related items that dining tables never miss: meat & HOT chilies… any vegetarian dish is considered a starter not a main dish! As for hot chilies… it all starts with the kids school lunchboxes! Yes, it’s reserved and used as a sandwich spread! If the stew does not contain chilies in its ingredients, then a fresh chili is held in the hand and crunched with every bite! 🙂
